Again I'm Reminded That...
2020 was by far my most successful year with my music.
Not so much in regards to income (no live shows ⬇️) but my music reached more hearts and homes than ever before.
I thought it would feel a certain way to hit 100K streams on Spotify. But oddly it feels different than I expected.
I’m suuuuuper grateful. But to my surprise I’m just as satisfied and content as I was before hitting this milestone.
I hustled like crazy a year ago and ended 2019 disappointed that my music didn’t do better and reach further. As I worked through that disappointment I learned a few things:
💛Our value is not based on how successful we are.
💛We are loved no matter what our goals are or whether we achieve them.
💛Love is NOT earned (or even deserved, but rather it’s freely given.)
💛Our work has worth even if it encourages only 1 person.
💛Faithfulness is not measured by statistics.
💛We are perfectly provided for. We have what's best for us in this moment.
💛God’s provision is not based on how successful we are.
And now in contrast, this year sorting through what it feels like to reach what I had labeled 'success' by having every goal I’ve made shattered and exceeded, ironically feels the same.
Again I’m reminded that…
💛Our value is not based on how successful we are.
So in the beautiful words of my friend Jennie Allen I feel a sweet freedom and hope you will too:
“Rest deeply into the presence of Jesus, that will never disappoint and will last forever. And rest deeply into the lasting souls God has given you to love. That is where joy and success live. Grateful that I am fulfilled not because of passing marks and numbers but because of forever relationships that actually matter. I pray the same for you.”
